British Skin Foundation
About the British Skin Foundation
The British Skin Foundation is the only UK charity dedicated to raising funds for research into all types of skin disease. Skin disease doesn't just affect the skin. It can have a huge impact on a person’s day-to-day life, crush self-confidence, restrict movement, lead to depression and put a huge strain on families as well as personal relationships.
Our unwavering commitment to funding quality research means we won’t stop until we’ve found cures for common skin problems such as eczema and acne through to potential killers like malignant melanoma. We are proud to be leading the fight against skin disease, raising more than £15,000,000 for over 300 research projects since 1996.
The British Skin Foundation is a registered charity. It is not statutory funded and relies completely on donations to be able to do its work.

"To raise money and fund research to find cures for skin disease and cancer."
We raise money to fund research for cures for skin disease. So far, we've awarded over £10m to almost different research projects in the UK, but research is expensive.
We have a number of aims we work towards:
- Research: We fund research to further our understanding of the different types of skin disease with the goal of finding cures and better treatments for all of them.
- Fundraising: Research doesn't fund itself, which means all of our fundraising events and donations are crucial to enabling us to continue our work.
- Campaigning: We'll fight for change, institutionally and behaviorally, for the good of skin disease sufferers.
Awareness: To better understanding of what skin disease is and why it's important we do what we do.
- Community: To get people sharing their experience with one another so they don't have to suffer in silence.
