Epilepsy Society

Epilepsy Society is the UK’s leading provider of epilepsy services. Through our cutting edge research, awareness campaigns, information resources and expert care, we work for everyone affected by epilepsy in the UK.

In the UK there are over half a million people living with epilepsy and it can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or background.  We have been supporting people affected by epilepsy for over a century and our commitment to do this continues through a wide variety of ways:

Pioneering medical research

Epilepsy Society’s globally renowned pioneering research is making great strides in finding the underlying causes of epilepsy and optimising seizure control.

Being a trusted source of support

We offer a comprehensive range of information resources and our specialist helpline gives confidential emotional support to anyone affected by epilepsy.   We welcome calls from people with epilepsy, their families and friends, as well as professionals such as doctors, nurses, care workers, teachers and employers.  We give each caller as much time as they want to talk about matters that are important to them.

We offer a schools awareness programme and training for individuals and healthcare professionals to educate both children and adults about epilepsy.

Providing specialist medical and care services

Our centre of medical excellence provides the latest diagnostic tests, assessments and medical treatment.

We offer expert residential, nursing and respite care as well as day care, domiciliary care and supported living services. Our care services team support individuals with epilepsy who also have associated and additional complications, including physical and learning difficulties, brain injury and autism.

Being a powerful voice for people with epilepsy

We campaign to ensure the voice of people affected by epilepsy is heard. We work in partnership with other neurological organisations to influence decision makers.

Creating connections

It is easy to connect with us and people affected by epilepsy through our Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and mobile app. We also invite people to connect with us by volunteering, becoming a member and fundraising.

We have been making a difference to the lives of people with epilepsy since 1892.
