HEART UK

HEART UK is the nation’s cholesterol charity. We're passionate about preventing premature deaths caused by high cholesterol, one of the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

Six out of ten adults in the UK have raised cholesterol. 1 in 500 people are born with an inherited high cholesterol condition called Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH).

The majority of people with FH remain undiagnosed and untreated. If untreated, they are at high risk of a heart attack, stroke or sudden death in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

HEART UK is lobbying for change to improve the detection of FH in families.

HEART UK is here for anyone affected by raised cholesterol. We work closely with clinical and patient experts, bring people together, provide advice, support, education and campaign for improved identification and standards of care.

Our vision is that the majority of UK adults will know their cholesterol levels, understand the impact and to be taking any necessary action.

The HEART UK helpline is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm – telephone 0345 450 5988, email ask@heartuk.org.uk
