In December 2007, Alice and Deborah were invited to the Channel 5 News Studio in London to take part in an interview about eczema and allergies for their midday news broadcast.

Deborah Mason Founder of talkhealth

talkhealth was founded in 2000 by Deborah Mason, with the development of the first website talkeczema, prompted by her daughter’s chronic eczema condition. Although fully supported by family, friends and health professionals, it was clear that there was a definite lack of similar co-ordinated support available for other people less fortunate. There were two main things that struck Deborah whilst on her quest for a solution to her daughter’s very distressing condition. Firstly was how time consuming it was piecing together all the disparate information available and understanding its trustworthiness and then secondly, was a wish to find and talk to others in a similar position - but where were they? Thus sprang the idea of creating an entity that could be the answer to both problems.

 

The immediate success and response to talkeczema proved very quickly that others had exactly the same issues. If this was the case with such a well-known condition as eczema, then people with other health issues, and particularly lesser known conditions, were sure to be experiencing the same problems – and the idea of talkhealth was born

talkhealth has now grown into a team of like minded individuals – keen to provide the latest information and support that is currently available on a wide variety of health issues. The talkhealth team are all actively involved within the communities’ membership and talk openly in the forums and regularly on the blogs. The team are very keen to hear from both visitors and people with an interest in any health condition and always open to any ideas which could benefit all who use the talkhealth platform.
