It is thought that 1 in 10 adults have eczema whilst 1 in 5 children suffer. However to highlight National Eczema Week there could be some good news. Filaggrin is a type of protein usually found in the skin and researchers have discovered that a defect in the gene that makes this protein could be the cause of eczema. It is hoped that this breakthrough could lead to a much anticipated cure.
