A recent study has shown that each year up to half a million school days are lost to eczema. It was discovered that the eczema has seen an increase of 42 per cent over a five-year period. Many experts believe this could be due to increased use of soaps and detergents as well as other environmental factors like pollen and temperatures extremes.

It has also been suggested that around a quarter of parents who care for children with moderate to severe eczema have had to take time off work as a result.
