A new pedicure craze is sweeping the nation but is it safe? Fish foot spas are a nibbling treatment where dead skin is removed from the feet by fish.

However Britain’s health protection agency have warned that this could be spreading disease. They recommend that those with weakened immune systems, diabetes or psoriasis should not participate as infections and bacteria could be passed on through the fish or the water.

A report on these treatments has concluded that the risk is extremely low but not excluded.
