We’ve all heard the saying “a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips” haven’t we? So why not take heed this Christmas and burn off those calories as quick as we pile them on? It really is easy to get caught up in all the festivities and forget exactly what we are putting in our mouths. A bit of chocolate here, a mince pie over there, washed down with a mulled wine. Now, no one is saying you can’t have your mince pie and eat it but knowing how many calories you need to burn off will go some way to help you stay on the right side of those scales!

An average mince pie contains around 200 calories

A large glass of vino can set you back 175 calories. And face it most of us opt for a larger glass over a small one 🙂

Six Quality Streets or Roses add up to about 250 calories. Thar’s enough to leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

Five mini pigs in blankets are a whopping 375 calories.

A slice of that special stodgy Christmas cake weighs in around 250 calories.

A handful of nuts pack in a hefty 290 calories.

But there is a way to stay health this Christmas without having to be a party pooper. Just make sure that you move as much as you can, whether you walk, jog, cycle, swim, take the stairs, go to the gym, or have a good old fashioned run around in the park. Remember our bodies are designed to move, so make sure you use every opportunity to keep moving through the day!
