So…

1 Mar 2012

Just realised how long it’s been since I last posted.

To be fair, I did spend 2 months of that time in Europe, which, by the way was amazing! And it’s what I’m here to talk about.

Before I left Australia for Europe, my skin was pretty well under control. Just a bit dry and my legs had a bit of eczema on it but other than that, not a whole lot was happening. Within a week of getting to Europe, my skin had completely settled down – no more eczema and my skin didn’t require the same usual amount of moisturiser and TLC. Praise the lord! So for 7 weeks or so, my eczema was finally under control and I didn’t need to worry about it at all.

Coming home was an entirely different story.

Within hours of coming home to the humid and hot weather that Brisbane just loves to have in summer, my skin started flaring up again. Eczema broke out on my chest and my arms. A few days later and it was on my legs again. Nearly 6 weeks later, it’s still here.

It’s been changing it’s mind about where it wants to irritate me. Right now it’s my calves and my tummy. Occasionally on my arms.

For now I’ll just keep moisturising, using my creams and taking my medication. Let’s hope by the end of the year, all the medication and injections will help it to disappear.

Has anyone else found a change in weather like this (or vice versa) has affected their skin?

…and if you want to see some pics from my trip, feel free to go here Europe 2011/2012 and here Street Art of Europe.

xoxo

I've had eczema now for 20 years and have tried nearly every treatment there is. I grew up in Sydney where night after night my mum layered me in creams, spent three and a half years in Vancouver where my eczema virtually disappeared and I am now in Brisbane and have lived here for 10.5 years. Over my 20 years I've tried various treatments and I'm now at a point where it's not controlling my life. I'm here to share my journey and spread my knowledge on all things eczema and I hope to be able to help in any way I can.
