What is all the Fuss about Sugar! Its just Sugar right?

Our World is infested with Sugar in many forms, in Soft Drinks, over Pills, in Medications, Sweets, Syrups, Sauces the list goes on…

Have you ever hit the pause button before you eat….

and thought….

When is food a food and when is it a poison?

Thats what Dr William Coda thought about in 1957. His working definition of poison was “ANY SUBSTANCE APPLIED TO THE BODY, INGESTED OR DEVELOPED WITHIN THE BODY WHICH CAUSES OR MAY CAUSE DISEASE. Physically: ANY SUBSTANCE WHICH INHIBITS THE ACTIVITY OF A CATALYST (WHICH IS A MINOR SUBSTANCE, CHEMICAL OR ENZYME THAT ACTIVIATES A REACTION)”.

The Dictionary has a definition of poison also. “To exert a harmful influence on, or to pervert”.

So now we know what a poison is… What has the Sugar got to do with anything? Its just sugar right?

Our body needs compounds of vitamins, minerals, proteins to be able to digest, metabolise and eliminate foods. Refined sugar is depleted of all these nurtients and is pure refined carbohydrate. Our body can not process  this effectivly as all the life has been taken out of the refined material.

So what is the deal if we eat this Refined Sugar/Poison what are the effects?

Incomplete carbohydrate metabolism occurs in the body, Pyruvic Acid starts to accumulate in the Nervous System, Brain, and the abnormal sugars start to collect in the red blood cells. This all interferes with the respiration of the cells, meaning the cells can not get enough oxygen, the cells then start to function abnormally and die, this interferes with the functioning of that part of the body. In time if this continues the part of the body will become diseased as the cells in that area can not function normally. (degenerative disease)

The body will become acidic and subsequently minerals are needed from other body tissues to help balance the Ph levels. Looking after the blood is a high priority of the body and so much calcium is taken from bones and teeth, this means decay and weakness starts to set in.  (The Book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration p168-169 fig54. “Where ever the primitive Aborigines have been placed in reservations and fed on the white mans food of commerce dental caries became rampant, this destroys their beauty, prevents mastication, and provides infection for seriously injuring their bodies” HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF THE DENTIST AS A GOVERMENT BUSINESS? WOULD YOU FILL YOUR OWN TEETH WITH TOXIC MERCURY??)

Excess Sugar will eventually effect every organ in the body. Starting with the liver when it is full with stored sugar, glucose (Glycogen) it will start to expand, the excess glycogen that the liver can not store returns to the blood stream in the form of fatty acids, these fatty acids then get stored as fat. When the areas are completely filled with fat, the fatty acids start to be stored as fat on the active organs, Heart, Liver and Kidneys. This slows the organs down and finally the tissues degenerate and turn into fat. Due to the reduction in organ function Hypertension is the result.

The whole body is affected, the circulatory and lymphatic systems are invaded causing the quality of red blood cells to begiun to change. An increase in white blood cells occours and the creation of new tissues is reduced.

Well that could take ages! So whats the immediate effects of my body?

Well when you eat processed sugars with out Fats, Proteins, Minerals and enzymes, your blood sugar levels become elevated.

Insulin is produced to reduce the blood sugar overload. The brain doesn’t get the message untill later so the effect of the insulin in a blood sugar crash. (hypoglycemic)

The brain can not be allowed to run out of sugar (if it did you would go into a coma) so the body responds right away by releasing powerful stress hormones, Cortisol.

Cortisol triggers the release of Glycogen from the Liver which raises the blood sugars again! Plus you would have felt the need of a “pick me up” so would have eaten a sugary snack by now, further pushing up the blood sugars.

The whole process then goes round and round, up and down up and down!

Well that seems ok, my body is dealing with it all ok right?

The big problem is that the body will eventually become insensitive to insulin, typeX syndrome (fat around the mid section starts to build up) Did you have a look down just then??? 🙂

This is the first step towards becoming a diabetic.

The onslaught of junk food, coffee, and general rubbish leads to adrenal fatigue, and then comes the depression and other behavious conditions, allergies, and various pathological conditions start to manifest themselves.

kidney and liver disease, CHD, osteoporosis, mouth conditions- ulcers, decay, caners, ADD, ADHD to name a few.

So is it a food or a poison…

I say…. You decide.
