This June talkhealth will be advocating for an exciting new venture for Psoriasis Shout Out. Between the 18th and 24th of June 2016, the Manchester-based charity and research initiative will be embarking on a roadshow around different regions and cities in the UK and Ireland.

Psoriasis Shout Out, which is led by world leading psoriasis expert Professor Chris Griffiths, is a unique initiative created with the aim of bringing together and supporting patients who are living with psoriasis. In 2014, PSO held their first event in their native Manchester, which brought patients and professionals working in the field of psoriasis management and research and encouraged them to offer support and share ideas regarding the latest research and treatments.

MPSO-logo-stack-avatarThis year’s Psoriasis Shout Out events are going to be bigger and more widespread across the country, with events already planned to take place in Manchester, London, Newcastle, and Ireland, and further events to be announced at a later date. Also, we are delighted to announce that talkhealth will be facilitating a Twitter Chat event in support of the Psoriasis Shout Out Roadshow during the month of June. We will be announcing the date of the Twitter Chat over the next few weeks, so please stay tuned for updates via Twitter.

The roadshow itself will involve a fully equipped healthcare trailer touring various locations, where members of the public can engage face to face with healthcare professionals and other people with psoriasis. The trailer will have a number of fun interactive sessions, including a session on Bhangracise, a new fun way to keep fit.

By expanding their reach beyond Manchester, Psoriasis Shout Out can help yet more people struggling day to day with the stresses and symptoms of psoriasis, and re-inforce the message that, “with the right support and management, it is possible to live well with psoriasis”.

talkhealth understand the impact psoriasis can have on your everyday life, both physically and emotionally. Along with the most common side effects of plaque psoriasis, which appears as a patch of dry red skin which can appear anywhere on your body (most commonly found on the knees, elbows and scalp), psoriasis can also lower self-esteem and cause anxiety due to the impact the disease has on physical appearance.

The first of the events takes place in Manchester at the Central Library on Saturday 18th June, with another being held at the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust building on Wednesday the 22nd June.
