Stop smokingThis month thousands of people are taking on the Stoptober challenge, Stoptober is a 28 day non-smoking awareness campaign run throughout October. It has been said that you are five times more likely to quit smoking after 28 days!

Smoking is the most preventable cause of cancer. In England alone there has been estimated over 79, 000 deaths a year with causes related to smoking. That’s staggering.Yet, people are still struggling to give up this addictive habit.

 

By giving up smoking you not only just improving your health but your lifestyle too, for the better.

A good way to start is to identify your cigarette cravings and find healthier alternatives to replace them. There are also stop smoking aids, such as nicotine patches, stop smoking medicines, gum or E-cigarettes to reduce cravings.  It may even be worth joining an exercise group to cut down cravings. Or even go for walk.

The main benefits of quitting are:

 

  • You will save money – The average smoker saves £141 a month
  • You will enjoy the taste of food more
  • The appearance of your skin and teeth will improve
  • You will find breathing and exercising easier
  • Higher chances of fertility and a healthy baby

We know quitting is not easy, but with the help of supporters and loved ones you are bound to achieve great results. Always remember to think positive.
