So, come on, how many times have you talked yourself out of going for a jog?  We hear it all the time; I am so unfit, It’s raining, it’s too hot, I haven’t got the right gear, I just don’t have the motivation!

We know how tough it is to create a new habit or routine, particularly for those who struggle with motivation, but if you can get past that, there are plenty of rewards waiting for you!   Getting out for a good walk, jog or run 2-3 times a week brings with it so many health benefits.  Fresh air in your lungs, improves circulation, better mood and mental health… this can be quickly multiplied in value if you can find someone to do it with you.

Walking, jogging and running with someone keeps you committed.  You are much less likely to give up or let someone down, just because it’s a bit windy, or a bit drizzly today. Sharing a common fitness goal with someone who is likeminded can open up a great opportunity to bring something positive back into lives that sometimes feel as though is totally focused on battles… battling through work, family chores and illnesses. So, it’s time to do something about that.  Set some small goals. Perhaps as simple as walking 20 minutes, 3 times a week and build up from there.  To help you, find someone who will accompany you on this new path to health. If you don’t have fiends of family close by who might be available at a time that suits you, then take a look at joggingbuddy.com – type in your postcode and see who is in your area, matching your fitness goals that would like to go for a walk, jog or run with you.  There is even a useful distance logger to help you track your performance.

There are some things that we can each do to help ourselves.  Start small, and you will see just what a difference that can make.  Good Luck.
