The government’s failure to meet EU standards on air pollution is “putting the health of UK residents at risk”, says the Environmental Audit Committee.

Committee chair Joan Walley MP said “It is a national scandal that thousands of people are still dying from air pollution in the UK in 2011 – and the government is taking no responsibility for this”.

The report stated that “the government needs to act now, as government did in the 1950s, to save the health of the nation” and it is also claims that the issue is not taken seriously enough by the government.

30,000 died across the whole of the UK in 2008 because of air pollution and as we know allergies and asthma are on the increase so why is this still happening?

What do you think the solutions are? Should the government be doing more? Should we?
