A talking plate could be the answer to the UK’s obesity woes. The £1500 plate from Sweden is to be used in a new initiative by the NHS.
Underneath the plate is a scale that weighs the food and a small computer screen charts the food disappearing as it is eaten. The screen will show two lines, one will show your rate of eating whilst the second shows a healthy rate.
If the user is eating too fast the computer will tell them to slow down. Messages will also appear asking if you are feeling full yet.
Whilst trials suggest that those who use this gadget do continue to lose weight when they stop using it critics wonder whether this can help the millions of obese people in the UK.
What do you think? Is it good that the NHS are trying new methods in the fight against obesity or is it a waste of money that won’t work?
