Following the death of their daughter, who had severe allergies and died after eating a baguette sandwich containing sesame seeds baked into the dough, Nadim and Tanya Ednan-Laperouse are campaigning for full food labelling on all pre-packaged food sold to the public.

There are two million people living with allergies in the UK and the numbers are rising. Recent research from Mintel has found that almost half (48%) of Brits are unsure whether or not allergen labels are clear, and a further 15% have no confidence in them at all.

The parents are so far dissatisfied with the options available, and state that only full ingredient list labelling is the way forward to help people with allergies.

The Food Standard Agency is looking for your views on food labelling and the consultation is running until 29th March 2019.

You can provide your feedback by completing the Defra survey here or by emailing allergenlabellingreview@defra.gsi.gov.uk – if you email you’ll need to refer to the consultation document in your email response.
