Three members of my household have eczema, my toddler has a semi diagnosis and we’ve been referred to a dermatologist today to have it confirmed along with a plan of action.
We have just returned from our annual week long holiday in Turkey, and it’s so interesting to see the diversity of this itchy skin disease! My skin flourishes in the sunshine, however, both my daughter and my sons eczema worsened, which lead to a bitter sweet experience. This is the exact ‘One size does not fit all’ that is always talked about when attempting to manage this chronic condition, just as the sun helps even out my scarring, caused by scratching and my flare up from the harsh winter weather, and allowing the natural vitamin d to heal my skin, it does the exact opposite for my daughter. The sun irritates her skin and causes it to become tight, rough and dry.
As for my son, it wasn’t so much the sun, but the AC we had to have on due to the heat, and there wasn’t really much escaping it! I really hoped the warm humid weather would help his skin, but unfortunately it didn’t 🙁
This serves as a reminder of the summer months that are coming up, and I will be in need of a good sun cream suitable for sensitive skin, any suggestions? I have also purchased some Magicool in anticipation of the summer months ahead! (She says with baited breath!)
How about your eczema? Is it better or worse in the summer?

HI!
My girl has eczema too 🙂 Thankfully, it’s well managed and we’re not losing as much sleep as before. I’m in Singapore, so in a way, we don’t get affected by climate change but the heat and perspiration do get to her.. drop by my blog when free! http:eczemablues.com
Take care,

I have mild to severe Eczema and I find that a few mins a day of Sun-light for me during the summer has help with my skin. I always tell people with Eczema to test their skin with small doses of sunlight to see if it is viable as it does effect people differently, but the benefits are incredible if there is a positive reaction.
