It has been announced that a new non-drug treatment could help to reduce the symptoms of severe asthma. The treatment, bronchial thermoplasty, works by heating the airways in the lungs which will destroy part of the muscle lining and therefore reducing the contraction that causes asthma attacks. Although further research is required, experts hope that this treatment could benefit sufferers who rely on heavy medication and inhalers.
