Experimental Trial Experiences

Hello,
My name is Eleri and I am new to this forum and I started this account because I thought it would be beneficial for me and others to share my journey with the eczema suffering community while I am taking part in a clinical trial for eczema treatment.

For the past two years I have suffered terribly with the most severe eczema ever since I had a mental breakdown in 2013. I have always suffered with eczema, allergies, rhinitis and asthma severely all my life but in the past few years eczema has forced me to be house bound, hindering my mental recovery.
My dermatologist has tried every treatment possible. I have been on steroids, immune suppressants of different kinds (cyclosporin & methotrexate) and nothing has worked. It got so bad that Christmas 2014 I was hospitalized with Red Mans Syndrome (aka erythmodermic eczema). This trial is my final option for any treatment or relief and I wanted to share it since there will be so many others out there struggling to find things that work, and this could one day be a treatment you receive.

Any advice from anyone who has experienced eczema similar to mine or anyone who has taken part in an experimental trial for eczema will be greatly appreciated. I still have not found a steroid treatment or emollient that works
I will be posting updates on here of how the trial is going for me just to express how I feel for my own mental sake, but also in the hope it will help or even just be interesting to you :)

Re: ADAPTrial for Eczema, My Experiences

Thanks! Hope it'd work for you!

Do check with the person in charge of the trial whether you can post updates, sometimes it's prohibited as part of confidentiality so read the fine print on what you signed up for when you agreed to the trial.

Take care,
Mei

Thankyou for the advice, I will be sure to check that when I go to the hospital since I haven't signed anything yet. I will be on the lookout :geek: In the meantime I've changed my post just to be on the safe side!
