Eczema on shins-Help!!

Ive had severe eczema my whole life. Im 18 now and it is at its worst. My shins are covered in rough patches that burn and sometimes bleed. In addition, i get these pimple-like bumps on my shins as well. I put lotion on several times a day, bu. sometimes its as if my legs wont absorb it. Ive tried everything from salt scrubs to olive oil. Can anyone help me?!?

Hi there!

I'm kinda worried about the pimple like pumps, it could be another skin condition such as molluscum contagiosum (though more common in kids), impetigo or other skin infection caused by bacteria, virus, fungal all of which higher risk for eczema sufferers. Do go and see a doc, take care.

The bumps look and feel more like ingrown hairs. Ive read that if the skin is so severly dry that the hair cant push its way through and just gets trapped.

Folliculitis?
It appears as a small localized pus (on surface or deep) at the hair follicle, followed by red bump when the pus dried with surrounding inflamed skin that may itch.

As there are many causes of it, though most common being the same staph bacteria that is on eczema skin, best to see a doc who may/may not recommend further testing as to cause or he/she can diagnose by appearance of the folliculitis. Try a chlorhexidine wash if you have it.. take care!
