is my doctor right?

ive had what my doctor called eczema on my ankle for years. hydracortizone valerate finally cleared it up. a few months ago it came back not just on my ankle but both legs are nearly 100% covered as well as my hands and wrists. hyracortizone valerate didnt phase it and i used 2- 2oz tubes in about a week. the skin on my legs is swollen, itchy, burning and the skin is sore to the touch to the point that i cant carry change in my pocket because it feels like its tearing my skin and i do have a high pain threshold. the muscles have become swollen and slightely sore to the touch. ive tried everything i could think of from over the counter creams, to coal tar soap, to antihistamines, and of course hv which did nothing. im wondering if my doctor may be wrong. he did no tests to confirm his diagnosis. thanks for any help in advance.

Re: is my doctor right?

Hi!

Sorry to hear that.. usually no test is required as experienced docs can diagnose eczema fairly easily, with finding out about the patient's medical history. But it does sound bad, do seek a specialist's opinion if it's bothering you.. not sure if a culture is something appropriate..

take care!

Good to know :) maybe consider washing the area with antiseptic like chlorhexidine to remove bacteria (staph) and that leads to infection..

Re: is my doctor right?

I am completely against prescribed products for Eczema as the majority of them simply weaken, thin and sensitise the area more so.

Try out Skin Repair. This range has products which will target the itch and irritation of Eczema as well as ingredients that aim to rebuild a damage Stratum Corneum often causes by steroid creams.

It's also free of preservatives, mineral oils, emulsifiers and preservatives which have been recorded to further irritate Eczema skins.
