Re: no treatment left to try

Sorry to hear of your eczema Amy, hugs. My daughter has it from 2 weeks and right now, is scratching. Did you have an allergy test? Maybe can see what's triggering? As for washing, I usually wash using Purex, hypoallergenic detergent using a 2 hour cycle.
Take care and hope weekend's better for you,
Mei

Re: no treatment left to try

hi mei , i have had a test and it came back that i was allergic too cats & dogs n dust n also another thing but i cant remember but i get soo depressed about it that last time i went the doctors they told me that i would have to lose weight because maybe it would go. but i have tried to lose weight and i don't no were i am going wrong i hate it on my skin. it feels like i have a disease. i just need someone that can help that has cream that it goes away. like at the moment i work in a factory and its full of dust but that can not be helped, my boyfriend gets soo annoyed at me for inching and i dont blame him but i just cant help it sometimes. i even asked the doctor if i can go for that treatment that gets rid of it but he said my eczema is not as bad as some people were there skin cracks open i think its stupid because i want to get married one day as i am engaged and i dont want to go down in my wedding dress with lots of marks and rashes down my arms n hands n legs.

Re: no treatment left to try

Oh dear, if the dust has dust mites (ie not construction type of dust, but home type.. generally, where there's food for the dust mites, e.g. our hair/ dead skin, and the condition is warm and humid), it will trigger eczema flareups. Perhaps have to discuss with your employer and see if it's possible to change to another work place? Or if condition permit, wear a eczema garment underneath your work clothes...

It's difficult to treat the eczema if what's triggering the eczema is not removed.. and find another doc.. no doc should be telling a patient to live with the eczema. And the link between weight and eczema is of association, not causal, it's not lose weight and your eczema will go away cause and effect. Hugs!

Re: no treatment left to try

I've had similar skin situation for 40+ years so I can definitely empathize.
Tried so many different products over those years - prescription and non prescription with minimal success long term.
In early July of 2015, I saw Kelly's message on this forum about the product on naturalskinco.com called Jian Pai and ordered it.
Perhaps it was the perfect storm but it has been amazing on my eczema.
The product seems to work almost immediately in alleviating the itchy skin.
People that know about my skin issues have commented on how my skin looks so much better - which in turn makes me look younger than before.
I have no affiliation with naturalskinco.com and I'm not sure if it will work for you as everyone's situation is different but it is bar none the most effective product I've ever used for my eczema.
Good luck and I hope you'll find an optimal solution to your problem.

Interesting - was checking up the key ingredient of the product you mentioned - looks like it is anti-inflammatory and inhibits staph bacteria, likely that's why it's used in TCM products for skin.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophora_flavescens

From this post, seems to be effective only when in large doses for application but ingested, is poisonous

Interesting these TCM products, often I wish more research papers are published on TCM..

Re: no treatment left to try

Hi,
I know this is about a year after your post but my son has really bad eczema. He has been exposed to so many different lotions and potions that he has became intolerant to all the standard and not so standard treatments here. We were really desperate as we couldn't even moisturise his skin, without causing him so much pain as his skin reacted to everything. He has hospitable wraps etc and like you we have not found anything which really helps.

I don't have a cure, but the only emollient we have found that seems to help moisturise is called Eucerin and is pure sheep's lanolin. You can buy some Eucerin products in the uk, but not this one. Its only available in Australia, and we have a friend that posts it over. Like I said, it doesnt cure the eczema, thats still there, but it definelty is the best help we've found at getting some moisture into the skin and in that respect it does offer some comfort. Its called Wool Alcohol Ointment (Anhydrous) and you buy it in 450g pots.

We've also changed all his underclothes to merino wool, which has also helped. He uses 'lovemysmalls', under all his clothes and I am sure there is an adult equivalent. It means his torso is in a much better state than the rest of him and definitely is less susceptible to the really severe outbreaks that his arms and legs always have.

hope helps

Re: no treatment left to try

It's coincidental that I've just been to a farm in Australia and the keeper said that once the sheep gets sheared, it would start producing lanolin. Lanolin seems to be irritant for some.. that's why I suppose some skincare products state as being free from lanolin. But glad it works well for you!

Take care!
