Royal Free London NHS Trust

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is a high-performing trust with some of the best clinical outcomes in the country.

Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital and their associated services are part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

The trust sees about 1.6 million patients each year in three main hospitals from all over the world. We employ around 10,000 people and have a turnover of about £924m.

We are Dr Foster's 'large trust of the year' for 2010 and the organisation particularly praised our patient safety and infection control record. We are ranked among the best English trusts for mortality rates - our rate is 29 per cent below the national average. We have the lowest MRSA bacteraemia rate among London teaching hospitals and are on target to reduce rates of c. difficile infections.

We continue to break new ground in treatments for patients and we aim to treat every patient within 18 weeks of being referred to the trust. Many of our specialist services have a national and international reputation, and we are renowned among others for transplantation, many aspects of surgery, immunology, and infectious diseases.

Our mission is to be in the top 10 hospitals in England for clinical quality, customer satisfaction, staff satisfaction and financial performance. We want to give patients the best possible care in a safe, clean and welcoming environment.

Our associated medical school, University College London (UCL), carries out ground-breaking research and we are associated with internationally recognised research and training programmes. We are also part of the academic health science partnership UCL Partners.

The Royal Free was successfully authorised as a foundation trust on 1 April 2012. This will give us greater freedom to provide the services that our patients and local community need.
