Online Clinic on Psoriasis

From 28 October - 3 November 2011 the Psoriasis Association and the British Skin Foundation (BSF) have teamed up with NHS Choices and talkhealth to present an Online Clinic on Psoriasis

Clinical experts are now available to answer questions about issues surrounding psoriasis, offering advice on caring for your skin, treatments and also to provide you with valuable help and guidance.

The Psoriasis Association is a well-established UK based charity with three aims:-

To raise awareness about psoriasis, to provide information, advice and support to those whose lives are affected by psoriasis and to promote and fund research into the causes, nature and care of psoriasis and to publish and disseminate the results of that research. Their independent information, advice and support can be accessed via a telephone and email helpline, website, Twitter and popular Facebook group.  Information is targeted to various age groups, with a CD-ROM available for children, website specifically for teenagers and various leaflets, magazines and podcasts to help those newly diagnosed and those who have lived with the condition for many years.

British Skin Foundation (BSF) is the only UK charity dedicated to skin disease research. With more than 8 million people in the UK suffering with some form of skin disease; the BSF aims to fund the research that is vital for a better understanding of the numerous conditions that blight the lives of so many.  Since its inception the British Skin Foundation has funded more than 200 research projects with a total value of over 6 Million pounds. As well as supporting research into diseases such as eczema, psoriasis and skin cancer, cases of which are unfortunately all too common; the BSF are also looking to find better treatments and eventual cures for conditions that may be less familiar such as vitiligo, ichthyosis and alopecia.

Thank you to everyone who took part in what was a lively and informative event.

Mumsnet was conceived in early 2000 out of a disastrous family holiday. The idea was to create a website where parents could swap advice about holidays, pushchairs and last night's TV.

Today Mumsnet is the UK’s biggest online parenting forum, where people go to share parenting advice and support; their broad aim is to make parents’ lives easier. They are visited by over one-and-a-half million people each month, chatting about everything from politics to piñatas.
