AN ONLINE CLINIC ON PSORIASIS

Patient charity British Skin Foundation (BSF) and the Psoriasis Association (PA) have teamed up with NHS Choices and talkhealth to present an Online Clinic on Psoriasis.

Clinical experts will be available to answer all your questions about issues surrounding psoriasis, offering advice on caring for your skin, treatments and also to provide you with valuable help and guidance.

Our experts have a wealth of knowledge and information they can share with you. From 28 October - 3 November 2011 you can post the questions that you would like our panel of experts to comment on, and enter into discussions with the experts


 

Dr Anthony Bewley - Consultant Dermatologist

Dr Tony Bewley qualified from Bristol University Medical School in 1987, and has trained in Dermatology at the Westminster Hospital, University College London Hospitals, Portsmouth and Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust.

He is a Consultant Dermatologist at Whipps Cross University Hospital, and Barts and the London NHS Trust, and honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary College (University of London). He is trained in general dermatology, and has a special interest in male genital dermatology and psycho-cutaneous medicine.

Meet the psoriasis experts - Dr Tony Bewley qualified from Bristol University Medical School in 1987, and has trained in Dermatology at the Westminster Hospital, University College London Hospitals, Portsmouth and Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust.

 

Dr Stephen Kownacki - GP & Executive Chairman of the Primary Care Dermatology Society

Dr Stephen Kownacki is a GP and executive chairman of the Primary Care Dermatology Society, an educational charitable organisation for GPs. He developed a special interest in dermatology under the guidance of Dr Dick Coles, founder of the Psoriasis Association. He worked as a hospital practitioner at Northampton General Hospital for almost 30 years.

Dr Kownacki retired in July 2011 from being senior partner in a large GP practice in Wellingborough but remains active in medical education. He is keen to to develop a more cohesive approach to the care of patients with skin problems.

Dr Edward Seaton - Consultant Dermatologist

Dr Edward Seaton qualified from the University of Oxford School of Medicine in 1996. He completed dermatology specialist training at Hammersmith Hospital and University College Hospital and obtained a postgraduate doctorate from the University of Oxford in 2004.

Dr Seaton is a consultant dermatologist at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He trained in general dermatology and has a specialist interest in acne, rosacea and skin cancer. He established the first Mohs micrographic surgery service for the treatment for skin cancer in north London.

Coleen Gradwell - Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist

Coleen Gradwell has worked within the speciality of Dermatology since 1988 at Nottingham University Hospital and now for Nations Health Care at the Nottingham Treatment Centre as a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist. Her special interest is in psoriasis. At present she is part of a team who support patients with psoriasis. This includes systemic drug monitoring and supporting a biologic service.

Coleen has taken an active part in the British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG) as Secretary, and on various committees and working groups.

She has published numerous articles within the field of dermatology and was the first nurse to have research published in the BJD.

In 2005, she was presented with the BDNG Stone Award, a lifetime achievement award given to a nurse who has made a notable contribution to Dermatology Nursing in the UK.

Fiona Reid EN, RGN, BSc (Hons), PGCE, Independent Nurse Prescriber


Fiona has worked in Dermatology for 20 years in a variety of roles. She currently works for Galderma (UK) a company dedicated to Dermatology education. Fiona has worked at Galderma for 3 years, within an educational and service development role where she educates all Healthcare professionals on psoriasis, acne, eczema, skin cancer and PDT.


Fiona maintains an honorary contract in Leeds and Harrogate running a difficult acne clinic in helping with psoriasis research and general dermatology patients. Fiona also has experience in systemic monitoring and minor surgery where she has set up and run the nurse led clinics.


Fiona is currently the Secretary elect for the British Dermatology Nursing group.
