ASK THE EXPERT – Trouble sleeping? Find out how your drinking could be stopping you getting a decent night's shut-eye. The Sleep Council teamed up with talkhealth to offer the community the chance to ask questions and highlight any concerns regarding alcohol and sleep.
There are around 40% of children and young people across England and Wales currently affected by sleep issues.
The Sleep Council’s 2017 Great British Bedtime Report found more than a quarter of Brits used alcohol as a ‘sleep remedy’. But did you know that even a couple of drinks can actually have a damaging effect on your sleep? And if you regularly go over the recommended 14 units a week, you may wake up most days feeling like you’ve not slept at all.
The clinic answered questions on why alcohol isn’t good for sleep, how it impacts on your sleep patterns and what healthier habits you can introduce to relaxing before bedtime, rather than relying on alcohol.
