The Urology Foundation - female urology
ASK THE EXPERT - It is estimated that around 1 in 3 women are affected by incontinence in their lifetime. Often this is as a result of childbirth and manifests itself when coughing or laughing. Whilst many women might consider this something they can put it up with, it is something that can and should be treated.
Equally, women are more likely to encounter a UTI (around half of all women will have a UTI in their lifetime) or suffer from chronic UTIs. Because women are so prone to UTIs and incontinence, this can also mean that bladder cancer symptoms are sometimes written off as a UTI or incontinence.
The Urology Foundation teamed up with talkhealth to look specifically at areas of urology that affect women. The clinic is now closed but you can view the questions and answers here.
