Mr Jonathan Broome

Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon - MB ChB, MRCOG

Mr Jonathan Broome received his initial medical training at the University of Birmingham Medical School, qualifying in 1989. He went on to complete postgraduate specialisation in obstetrics, gynaecology and urogynaecology at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester. He then gained further technical expertise in the area of endoscopic gynaecology during a two-year fellowship at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney, Australia. In 2000, he joined the Royal Bolton Hospital as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a subspecialism in urogynaecology.

Mr Broome runs a national clinic for laparoscopic pelvic floor repair surgery, gynaecological surgery and gynaecological health at BMI The Beaumont Hospital in Bolton. Here he is supported by a highly trained, multidisciplinary team including specialist nurses and physiotherapists. All patients are cared for in a calm, professional environment which is equipped with first class investigative and operative equipment.

As a highly regarded specialist in laparoscopic surgical repair of the pelvic organs and pelvic floor, Mr Broome has successfully treated over 1000 cases of prolapse in this way. Mr Broome's pioneering technique led to the first woman in the world being able to have a child after surgery for a prolapsed womb. Subsequently, 3 further patients of Mr Broome’s have proceeded to have children after this Sacrohysteropexy procedure of a total of 5 women worldwide.
