Welcome to talkallergy

The word allergy provokes a wide range of responses from people and the response is very much dependent on whether that person directly or indirectly is a sufferer of an allergy. The Oxford University Press dictionary defines allergy as "a damaging immume response by the body to a substance, especially a particular food, pollen, fur or dust, to which it has become hypersensitive".

Allergies come in all shapes and form, both in type of allergy and also the reaction to that allergy. Everyone is different and allergies can come and go at any age. talkallergy aims to provide an introducation and broad base of information to the subject, but most importantly it aims to provide a platform for people to share their experiences and a place to offer help and support to others.

For some people an allergy can be a minor irritant, but to others allergies can mean life and death in an instance. By bringing together a wide range of people interested in helping those with allergies, talkallergy hopes to make those people's lives that much easier and safer.
