The Food Standard Agency are seeking your views on allergen labelling

The Food Standard Agency are looking for your views on allergen labelling. There is a period of consultation which runs from 25 January and closes on 29 March 2019. The main issue is around foods that are prepacked for direct sale as there is currently no requirement for these types of foods to carry any allergen information. Just because there is an absence of allergen information doesn’t mean that these foods don’t contain allergens. Defra believe it is very important that consumers are provided with accurate information about allergenic ingredients in products to allow them to make safe food choices.

You can provide your feedback by completing the Defra survey here or by emailing – if you email you’ll need to refer to the consultation document in your email response.
