Facial eczema

Coping with facial eczema

I've been suffering with facial eczema for years. It started when I was 14 and was only located in and around my eyebrows. At the time I was young and though little of it, although looking back on it I wish I had spoken up and seen a dermatologist. Over the years it slowly spread to my hair line, around my nose, on and over my eyelids, my chin, behind my ears, all over my neck, and now has been moving to my cheeks. My flares were, at times, sever and extremely painful. I was, and still am, very self-conscious about it. I saw my dermatologist, and was, at first, given topical steroids. I used these without knowing much of anything about them, as I was still young. They seemed to help when I had flares, but didn't really keep them from coming back. The only thing they did for sure was CLOG MY PORES! I had pimples and blackheads popping up all over my face! When I saw the slice of pizza staring back at me I decided to go back to the doctor. This time she offered me Elidel, as well as the Desodine I used this in between flares to keep them at bay. It seemed to work for the first month or so, with the only side effect being a strange, noticeably sour odour. Two months later I began reading articles online about Elidel causing cancer ... not good. I continued to use it but in extreme moderation, and started looking into alternate, over the counter forms of repression.I must have tried 50 types of moisturizers over the years; none of them seemed to really help. I walked through every day leaving a trail of skin flakes from my ever-red face.It wasn't until about 3 months ago that I finally found something that has kept me from a single flare. My solution? Aveeno's Ultra-Calming line!!! I now use the ultra-calming Foaming Cleanser in the morning and before bed to wash my face. It is very gentle, and prevents my pores from clogging while at the same time not triggering a flare. It is fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, soap-free, and most importantly hypoallergenic (as is the entire line).I also use the two moisturizers in the line. In the morning I use the daily moisturizer. It has SPF 15 so it's great if you're going to be outside at all. Before I go to bed I use the moisturizing cream. This is great and prevents me from scratching throughout the night. The best part about these products is that they dramatically reduce redness! In under a week my face was completely clear. I still had a few patches of dry skin, but they were almost completely unnoticeable.I was and still am completely blown away by this product. I cannot praise it enough. I haven't seen my skin looking this good since I was 12. Now all I need to do is convince Aveeno to make an ultra-calming shampoo!!!

I can't get rid of the eczema on my face

I've had bursts of eczema for a while now, and now it seems to be on my face. I had a small patch, which the doctor said was infected and prescribed me with Fucibet; that patch has now gone, but since then I have it on my forehead, and used the Fucibet again, and now there seems to be light and dark patches on my forehead and around my face, and my face feels quite rough, and when I wash it, tiny peels of skin come off. Is there anything I can do to rid myself of these horrible patches? HELP!I'm 16 and am doing my GCSE exams at the moment, but I feel very self-conscious and scared about facing people, which I never used to before, (I'm actually a very talkative person), but I seem to be communicating less and less with people!?
