This week my colleague drew my attention to some research she’d read about that had been conducted at the University Hospital in South Manchester. I was intrigued because it seemed to conclude that cutting carbs for two days is better than counting calories all week.

The research demonstrated that following a strict diet for just two days of the week is a far more effective way to lose weight than trying to calorie count all the time. They found that women who stuck to fruit, vegetables and lean meat for two days a week while being allowed to eat as much as they liked on the other days lost nearly twice as much weight than those who were dieting constantly.

As you will know from reading my blog, my diet got off to a great start – but for a few weeks I’ve been stuck unable to shift any more (and believe me I have quite a bit still to lose!). So I thought I’d try the carb-free approach. So, on Monday and Tuesday of this week I ate no carbs and today, having stood on the scales I have lost weight. It’s only half a pound BUT I’m now only .3 of a pound off being under that magical next stone which I know psychologically will be momentous!!!

Even though I’ve done my two carb free days, I’ve decided to continue today to see if I can shift that .3 of a pound …. I will let you know as soon as I’m under that magical number.
