Psychodynamic Counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Slight exaggeration, but since my work was featured in the Yorkshire local press, I have been overwhelmed with enquiries. To this end, I have decided to offer telephone counselling to those outside of my catchment area. We are also working on setting up a chat room, once our techie team can get that in place. Currently my little website is getting hit hard!

I had to think long and hard about providing this service, as I am so passionate about real quality of care, but am reassured that I am as effective on the phone as I am in real life, as much of my support is relayed throughout recovery by phone and text as well as in person.  And now that I have my awesome network of sober ladies out there in the field I can afford the time, such a precious commodity, time,  I am ashamed to say that  I wasted so much of in my drinking years.

Details of phone numbers and skype are given on the site, so if you need me call me, I shall do my utmost to be of help both to those of you who are suffering and feel there is nowhere to turn, and nearest and dearest.

Rest assured that my aims will always hold fast, and my high standards will never be compromised. I am very proud to say that 83% of my clients remain sober after 6 months.

Lastly I would like to thank all of you who have sent me amazing feedback from the article in the paper, and my brave girls who let me use their case studies. You are the reason for me remaining so very passionate about this!

Sarah

I am Sarah Turner in my 50's married with two sons. I live in between two pretty villages, just outside of Harrogate in North Yorkshire. My vocation and passion has been to help Women and their families beat alcohol dependence and misuse for many years, and are not able to access appropriate care. Harrogate Sanctuary was born through my fight to find empathetic treatment when I desperately needed it, and failing abysmally. Although I am fully qualified on paper as an Addictions Counsellor and Congnitive Behavioural Therapist, I much prefer to use my own experience as a drunk up until my late thirties, to empathize and understand the problems that Women of today face with the effects and consequences of drinking too much. I adore my family, both human and animal, have three beloved chickens, . My garden never ceases to amaze, and now my boys are grown, I have rather taken to plants to vent my nurturing side. In addition to my own services to my clients, I campaign relentlessly to raise awareness of this hidden epidemic, that still remains such a taboo subject. In the 21st century, it's time for change. To this end I have also co-authored The Sober Revolution, Women calling Time on Wine O'clock, with my friend and ally Lucy Rocca, founder of Soberistas.com.
