Some people…

2 Jul 2013

…just can’t help themselves can they?! I posted the results of today’s weigh in on my Facebook page and, as usual, got lots of lovely and positive comments. One lady however thought that it was a good opportunity to say, ‘Still along way before they catch up with you Clare Pawley.x’.

Clare is fantastic and is in this months copy of Woman magazine I believe. I think she has lost 17st and she looks amazing – so I am thrilled for her. But my response was, ‘Clare has done fantastically well Sharon – but a ‘well done’ wouldn’t go amiss if you are going to comment! I weighed over 43st and have turned my life around…and hope to lose over 30st in total – so if you want to play ‘your loss is bigger than their loss’ come back this time next year! x’

Maybe I am getting too touchy, or maybe I am just fed up with arseholes who write or open their mouths before they think! When someone is trying to turn their life around, they don’t really need negative comparisons being made – luckily I don’t get bothered by stuff like this on a long-term basis…it just brings out my bark and I can’t resist responding in the short-term. I mean really? I would never dream of making a comment like that – any weight loss is a good loss, and to make comparisons is just childish, insensitive and shows a lack of emotional intelligence – more likely, they just didn’t think before they commented and I was having an over-sensitive moment!

Let’s all enjoy a game of ‘my car is posher than your car’, ‘my Dad is better than your Dad’, ‘my trouser department is longer than your trouser department’…come on – where is the love and support for fellow losers?! Anyone making an effort in this world of fast, greasy and convenience food needs a big pat on the back – so I salute each and every one of you who is making the effort to struggle with your demons on a daily basis! xx

In fairness to this lady though, she did apologise and did say ‘well done’ – so she is obviously a bigger person than I am as I probably would have skulked off and hidden somewhere! ;-) So ‘thank you’ Sharon – and I am so pleased to have people similar to you in my corner supporting me as you support Clare.

Enough of my ranting now…

Today’s results at weigh in were good…

20130702-162322.jpgAnother 3.5lbs of useless fat has gone for good! I am nice and close to my next shiny as well – just 2.5lbs off my 14st award, which I hope to get next week. I was also Slimmer of the Week too and so was pleased with that…as were my horses who snuffled their noses in the bag and had some apples and a pear.

Group was great again. We talked about syn free rice pudding and how it can actually have an impact on your losses despite being ‘free’. Think about it – if you have dinner and then enjoy a big bowl of rice pudding, the likelihood is that your pudding contains as many calories as your dinner did! A target member who had slipped out of target came back with a decent loss this week after doing nothing more than cutting out her rice pudding and just having the berries she was having with it. I guess it makes sense – rice enjoyed as part of a meal is okay, but to have a bowl of it on top of dinner bumps up your calories…and whilst Slimming World is not about counting calories, it is about moderation at times. If you are eating rice pudding after dinner and losing weight then I wouldn’t worry, but it is something to consider if you are struggling and it is something you eat regularly.

Pizza lady made me chuckle again today. Our consultant was talking about pudding rice, the rice you can use to make rice pudding – you can buy pudding rice, arborio rice etc for this job. She said, “why are you calling it pudding rice and not rice pudding?” – not realising that you can actually make rice pudding from scratch…she thought it just came in a can! I do love her – she always puts a smile on my face – and, she managed to lose weight this week and was so shocked. I love that she is shocked when she loses weight, despite the fact that she is sitting in a weight loss group…it is almost as if she thinks it is Alcoholics Anonymous and not Slimming World!

I also asked a question of the group regarding syn free chips – I don’t think that I have mentioned it in the blog before…so maybe you can shed some light too! When I have a jacket potato, one will fill me up nicely. Yet when I make syn free chips, if I used a potato the same size as one I would have as a jacket potato, I feel as if there are not enough chips…and I use two, or sometimes three. A lot of people in group agreed – one potato for chips is not enough! Why is this? Someone said that the skin on the jacket potato fills you up, but I keep the skin on my chips too – this is full of fibre and tastes immense I think. So I wonder if there is some strange chemical reaction, or maybe it is because I just love chips and am a greedy git?!

My challenge to myself this week is to make a meal with syn free chips and only use one potato…I will scour the veggie section in Asda for one the size of a watermelon! ;-) But tonight, I am having lots of syn free chips…

Today has been fairly quiet. I say that as it was a non-exercise day, although I did tackle part of my front garden and filled my grass bin with weeds and brambles! I got up and had a nice shower, got ready for group, did a bit of work on my other half’s project and then headed out. After group it was off to the horses and Asda, and then my niece came over for a couple of hours as my sister is off to see Robbie Williams tonight and my Mum is babysitting…but was in a training course so I covered the overlap. We decided for some reason to search the Internet for the worlds smallest dogs, and then found the top ten largest animals – a cow twice the normal height, a massive horse, a dog with a huge neck (that looked remarkably like his owner) – and my niece was having great fun looking at these and also playing with my dog. I do love my staffy – she is so good with kids and just sat there being fussed and pampered. We then had to pop out as my other half has destroyed his iPhone and we had to post it off to be repaired…he has lost his comfort blanket…or his dummy as I call it! Whilst we were out I decided to buy some tough gloves for deweeding and gardening, partly prompted by our neighbour tidying his garden today and ours looking like something off a TV programme named something along the lines of ‘Bad Neighbours’. In fact I am sure my neighbour didn’t strim his garden but just kept revving it up near our front door as a massive hint…well, I took the hint and our garden is a lot tidier than it was this morning. Alas, the weather Gods were in my favour and it started to rain just as we were getting tired!

Breakfast: Banana.

20130702-162522.jpgLunch: Quorn deli chicken with homemade hummus (2 syns), salad and pittas (2 x HEB).

20130702-162617.jpgDinner: Syn free chips, mixed beans, stuffed mushrooms (2 x HEA), roasted red onion and roasted tomatoes.

20130702-190642.jpgSnacks: French Fries (24 syns).

20130702-182551.jpgA lovely food day today. Lunch was lovely and kind of felt naughty but was very saintly, and dinner was just a weird combo we thought of whilst driving to Asda! Mushrooms stuffed with garlic and herb Philadelphia light…delicious.

Exercise: None today – a blissful rest day, apart from the gardening.

Thank you once again for reading my lovelies – I hope that the scales this week are being good to all of my fellow ‘losers’…

Weight Loss Bitch xxx

WeightLossBitch

On a health and fitness driven journey to lose over 32st / 448lbs / 203kgs – yes, it is a considerable amount – I am committed to losing my excess weight without the aid of weight loss surgery, diet pills, or quick fixes…as there aren’t any! Changing my eating habits and building up my fitness levels, along with addressing the ‘head issues’ will be crucial in order for me to achieve my goal. Living in England as a 31 year old super morbidly obese woman can be challenging to say the least. I have been shouted at in the street and verbally abused far too many times to mention; hence the name ‘Weight Loss Bitch’…the day I am just called a ‘bitch’ instead of a ‘fat bitch’ will be the day that I know I have cracked my weight loss! With many reasons to lose this weight I am documenting my journey for a number of reasons. Firstly, I would like to keep a record of the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and the challenges I face with such an enormous task to tackle. Secondly, I would also like to inspire and encourage other people who are in a similar situation and to show them that significant amounts of weight can be lost naturally…with a bit of motivation, hard work, dedication and will power. Thirdly, all of the blogging, Facebook-ing, Tweet-ing, Pinterest-ing and YouTube-ing keeps me occupied and keeps my fingers out of the fridge!
