This week sees the start of Week 6 of the Couch to 5K course I am running for Sherfield Park Runners.

Of those who started the course initially we have 17 stalwarts who are working really hard and are dedicated and determined to reach the end of the course at the end of this month.

It is getting harder and the course is certainly a test of the resolve of each and every C25K runner. And runners is exactly what they now are. Making the huge effort to get off the couch and run is paying dividends. There are even one or two talking about half marathons which is fantastic. I am so proud of them all. This is not the best time of year to get outside and run, but if they can run in these horrible rainy and wintery conditions and enjoy it, they will really enjoy running when the weather starts to get better and we move into the Spring and Summer.

If you fancy running but don’t know how to start, why not check out the NHS Choices C25K course, which is the course we are following with Sherfield Park Runners. Tried and tested it will get you running a 5k within 9 weeks. There are podcasts to download with full instructions and guidance on what to do.

Our C25K course ends with a 5k parkrun on Saturday 29 March in Basingstoke – I will let you know how we get on!
