What a fabulous day! Rainy and grey but it’s just so wonderful here…great company, great surroundings, and great food! :-)

We headed over to Oban today…well, I just HAD to go to the green seafood hut on the pier…it’s pretty much my go to place for all things seafood.

20140504-205709.jpgI couldn’t resist stocking up – but then ate most of it there and then…old habits die hard! :-)

To be fair to myself I avoided chips, luxury chocolate, and gourmet yogurt today…and haggis…so I am doing well. I almost heard myself saying, ‘It’s all on plan’…which it was…but I do think that’s a bit of a cop out sometimes used to justify over-eating. So today I have mostly been ‘sea’ing food and eating it…and I am okay with that! ;-)

We took a nice drive to Oban and stopped off at Castle Stalker which had an amazing gift shop full of Harris Tweed handbags…which was something else that I managed to resist.

Upon arrival in Oban we went straight to the seafood hut, then my Mum and aunt headed for a mooch around the shops whilst Mr WLB and I mooched around the pier before getting soaked and heading back to the car. We then picked up chips for him – which smelt amazing – before heading to Ganavan Sands for a walk on the beach together…we even held hands…I am not a hand holding person really! ;-)

20140504-205808.jpgAfter this, we drove back towards ‘home’ via Kinlochleven and a couple of shops…a craft shop, the Co-Op for supplies, and a seafood cafe. This seafood cafe is lovely – I ate there in January and the food was great. However, the green seafood hut does the most amazing seafood platter for 2 or 4 for £12.50 or £25…a seafood platter for 2 at this cafe was £95…albeit it is a hot platter and the hut offers cold ones…but still – I can’t justify the price. Especially as Mr WLB doesn’t eat the stuff…I can’t shovel in £95 of food…I don’t even think I managed that on a bad binge day of old! We also saw some great little tiny pods that look like giant whiskey barrels that you can hire in Kinlochleven…my Mum wants one for her garden I think…but would be worried that Mr WLB and I would move back home! :-)

20140504-205906.jpgWe then mooched back towards the cottage…and I went to check the gym out across the road. There is a Christian youth centre there that trains kids to become outdoor activity instructors, and there are only five properties in the village. The family who own the cottage, the farm, and the land had sold the property to this centre and so they use the facilities too. When I explained that I needed to find some good local walks as I was missing the gym, they said that I could use it without a problem. So I went over today and had a great workout…they have a treadmill, a spin bike and ‘normal’ bike, weights, and rowing machines, along with other bits and bobs…so I had a great cardio workout overlooking the woods and didn’t end up getting drenched.

I really do love walking in the great outdoors. However, the weather is pants and I can’t find waterproof pants to fit! Seriously…my outdoor gear is courtesy of Trespass and Simply Be but it is not the breathable garment as advertised…more like a sweaty plastic bag! There is no such thing as bad weather…just bad clothing…but I think I need to shift a bit more weight before I can tog myself up for this weather. So when I can, I will get out in the fresh air for my exercise…but the gym across the road is my saving grace. As I have said before, I am far more Go Outdoors than Gucci…but Go Outdoors don’t cater for me at the moment…then again, neither does fecking Gucci! :-)

So that’s it for today. I am stuffed full of seafood and so happy. I love it here, I really do…and we are currently on deer-watch as a herd are moving down the mountain behind our cottage to come and get some…well, I am not sure what they are coming to get but they come down each night! Oh, and we also saw some seals today too…I love it here – the only wildlife I see back home are the people coming out of the local pub! ;-)

Breakfast: Banana and boiled eggs.

20140504-201334.jpgLunch: Seafood!

20140504-201416.jpgDinner: Smoked seafood stew.

20140504-201518.jpgSnacks: Nuts (2 x HEB) and cheese (2 x HEA).

20140504-202240.jpgA truly gorgeous food day…although it was a little sparse on superfree as I was too stuffed after eating my seafood…and as it’s not often that I get the opportunity, so I bloody well took it and enjoyed myself! :-) Brekkie was my usual, and my snacks covered my HEA and HEB choices…and were eaten after my workout. I couldn’t resist when I arrived at my fish hut…I had some crab claws, scallops (x2…eek!), and some fresh cockles without vinegar and they were lovely. The scallops were served with sweet chilli sauce (2.5 syns per tbsp…and I had less than 2 tbsps) and cooked with a tiny bit of garlic butter. I had to laugh, as I asked for them to be cooked without butter as I was trying to lose weight…the alternative I was offered was oil! When I suggested a touch of water, I was looked at like an alien, and so settled at the offer of a tiny bit of garlic butter…so no syns today for me as I had them in the scallops. The crab was delicious…sweet and tender. Dinner was immense. My Mum cooked us all a seafood stew which had scallops, prawns, muscles, and smoked salmon…with onion, peppers, tomatoes, passata, mushrooms, green beans, and courgettes, with a herb stock pot, dried mustard, pepper, coriander, cumin, paprika, and chilli powder…it was delicious…and I had two bowls of it…although the second was mostly tomatoes and veggies! :-)

Exercise: 45 minutes treadmill, 5 minutes rowing machine, 10 minutes exercise bike.

WeightLossBitch

On a health and fitness driven journey to lose over 32st / 448lbs / 203kgs – yes, it is a considerable amount – I am committed to losing my excess weight without the aid of weight loss surgery, diet pills, or quick fixes…as there aren’t any! Changing my eating habits and building up my fitness levels, along with addressing the ‘head issues’ will be crucial in order for me to achieve my goal. Living in England as a 31 year old super morbidly obese woman can be challenging to say the least. I have been shouted at in the street and verbally abused far too many times to mention; hence the name ‘Weight Loss Bitch’…the day I am just called a ‘bitch’ instead of a ‘fat bitch’ will be the day that I know I have cracked my weight loss! With many reasons to lose this weight I am documenting my journey for a number of reasons. Firstly, I would like to keep a record of the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and the challenges I face with such an enormous task to tackle. Secondly, I would also like to inspire and encourage other people who are in a similar situation and to show them that significant amounts of weight can be lost naturally…with a bit of motivation, hard work, dedication and will power. Thirdly, all of the blogging, Facebook-ing, Tweet-ing, Pinterest-ing and YouTube-ing keeps me occupied and keeps my fingers out of the fridge!
