Temptation!

6 May 2014

Goodness me – what a tempting day it has been!

First up was a rather grey and wet ferry hop over towards Fort William…

20140506-210602.jpgI was heading to Aviemore to meet a lovely lady again that I met via Twitter and my blog. It was an early start, made difficult due to the fact that the dog had stolen four wholemeal rolls out of Mr WLBs rucksack yesterday afternoon and decided to throw up on the hour, every hour last night…so I was a bit bleary-eyed this morning. I am pleased to report that the dog is all good now…and is snoring contentedly as I type! ;-)

We had a couple of stops along the way…one was at the Harris Tweed shop. This was the first temptation! They had bags of off-cuts, some larger off-cuts, and just gorgeous handbags, diaries, gloves, purses…all sorts of things! Mr WLB tried a hat on that I thought he looked lovely in…

20140506-211128.jpgAnd I spotted a bag that I might try and replicate with my off-cuts that I haven’t done anything with since the last visit to the shop…

20140506-211343.jpgI just love it…the only problem is that I hate the feel of tweed…itchy scratchy-arsed stuff…I love the look of it though! I spotted a gorgeous ‘target’ belted jacket and a cape…exciting to think that I might be able to go back in there when I next visit and fit into something there! There was yet more temptation here…a bowl of tablet on the counter from which you could help yourself…I looked, but didn’t touch – I was strictly window shopping today! ;-)

We arrived in Aviemore and headed to a place just outside of town – the Heather Centre. They sell something called clootie dumpling, which is a bit like Christmas pudding…and tastes amazing. I resisted, despite having to walk through the cafe and watch people eating the stuff in order to get to the ladies room! Then I mooched around and found this…

20140506-211957.jpg…a plate of shortbread bites. Mr WLB laughed at me at this point…he said that my fingers and hand were wriggling around trying to resist taking one! I left my Mum and aunt to have one…but I bloody love shortbread…so it was a definite temptation!

I then found a pile of Harris Tweed bags in there too…which was another temptation. One was kind of satchel-style with denim too…and I have denim at home as well as tweed…so I just need to find someone handy at ‘crafty’ things to help me out. It’s not the best picture but it will give you an idea.

20140506-212622.jpgI bought some biscuits for the lady who is keeping an eye on horses…and that was it – temptation resisted again! :-)

We then mooched into Aviemore and over to Rothiemurchas…which has an amazing deli. I was almost speechless when I looked around…

20140506-213013.jpgI did say to Mr WLB that if the ‘me’ of old was there, I would have spent a serious fortune. They had crackers and breads and pâté and cheeses and chocolates…you name it, it was there in the food world! I bought some smoked meat…I couldn’t leave empty-handed! ;-)

Mr WLB and I then took the dog for a walk…well he walked, I did some deep-breathing exercises in the car. Not because the temptations were overwhelming, but because the air was clear and so unlike the city smog that I am used to! I had mentioned to him that he didn’t buy me a stone – there were these stones that I had seen in the Heather Centre that had nice words on – and he then reached into his pocket and gave me these…

20140506-213559.jpg…two stones that he had chosen from the beach in front of the church he wants us to get married in. He chose them to represent the fact that he wants us to get married there…he is the most amazing guy ever! :-) We also had a lovely view of the Cairngorm range whilst we were chatting about the stones…

20140506-213926.jpgIt was then off to to the Italian place to meet the lovely lady that I met last year. We had a massive hug and it was so relaxed and easy. We chatted about all sorts and the time flew! We discussed a fair bit about how tough shifting weight can be…and I said that I could still quite happily have tucked into the pizzas and creamy pasta dishes on offer…I don’t think that temptation goes away…I think you just exercise your ability to ignore it – a bit like a muscle…this gets stronger the more you practice!

It was then time to say goodbye and head back home…well, to the place that I would love to call ‘home’! :-)

Mr WLB is not well – he’s really suffering from acid reflux and acidic throat…it’s horrible to see him like this. He does have some tablets from the doctor, but they aren’t working – so he’s not himself…not enjoying his food, he’s lost weight, he’s quiet and reserved, and not wanting to do his kayaking here. I really hope that I can find a pharmacist tomorrow and get him some help!

That’s it for the day. It’s been long…I headed to the gym when we got back and didn’t get dinner until 8.30pm…and I want to finish my Jack Reacher book so am heading off now! :-)

Breakfast: Boiled eggs and a banana.

20140506-205623.jpgLunch: Italian salads (2 x HEB and ???? syns!).

20140506-205849.jpgDinner: Fruit with 0% Total Greek and Babybels (2 x HEA).

20140506-210013.jpgA gorgeous food day! My usual brekkie was followed with an immense lunch of cold Italian salads…giant couscous, orzo, tomato salad, chickpea, mixed beans, salad salad, and red cabbage…it was gorgeous. Now, it was made with olive oil…so I decided to count both my HEBs towards it, and all of my syns…plus however many more there were in it all. I was quite restrained considering the creamy, cheesy pastas and all you can eat, freshly made, and fecking delicious-looking pizzas! ;-) After the gym, I decided on just fruit salad and yogurt with my HEA cheese…and no snacks today.

Exercise: 10 minutes treadmill, 10 minutes exercise bike, 15 minutes rowing machine, and 45 minutes of Pilates.

WeightLossBitch

On a health and fitness driven journey to lose over 32st / 448lbs / 203kgs – yes, it is a considerable amount – I am committed to losing my excess weight without the aid of weight loss surgery, diet pills, or quick fixes…as there aren’t any! Changing my eating habits and building up my fitness levels, along with addressing the ‘head issues’ will be crucial in order for me to achieve my goal. Living in England as a 31 year old super morbidly obese woman can be challenging to say the least. I have been shouted at in the street and verbally abused far too many times to mention; hence the name ‘Weight Loss Bitch’…the day I am just called a ‘bitch’ instead of a ‘fat bitch’ will be the day that I know I have cracked my weight loss! With many reasons to lose this weight I am documenting my journey for a number of reasons. Firstly, I would like to keep a record of the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and the challenges I face with such an enormous task to tackle. Secondly, I would also like to inspire and encourage other people who are in a similar situation and to show them that significant amounts of weight can be lost naturally…with a bit of motivation, hard work, dedication and will power. Thirdly, all of the blogging, Facebook-ing, Tweet-ing, Pinterest-ing and YouTube-ing keeps me occupied and keeps my fingers out of the fridge!
