The RELIEVE IBS-D clinical trial, which is testing the efficacy of the intestinal adsorbent ENTEROSGEL to treat diarrhoea and abdominal pain in patients with Irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D) has so far successfully recruited 105 patients.

This large Randomised Placebo-Controlled trial aims to recruit 430 patients over the next 12 months from 28 hospital and GP surgeries in England. The study has been designed with help from patients and includes an easy to use electronic daily diary which takes just minutes to complete and an open-label phase where every patient gets to try Enterosgel treatment.

Patient feedback on the trial has been great, one patient said “I have had amazing results from the Enterosgel trial, I can’t believe that drinking something twice a day can have such an effect on your digestive system…”
