Anne is a skin microbiologist with a lifelong interest in the pathogenesis and treatment of acne. She worked for many years as a Principal Research Fellow in the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Leeds where she was a founder member of Professor Bill Cunliffe’s world leading acne research team. Her area of special interest was antibiotic resistance in skin bacteria. Anne is now semi-retired and joined the Department of Dermatology at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust group two years ago from industry, having spent six years as Scientific Director of a university spin-out company (Syntopix now Evocutis plc) dedicated to developing novel topical antimicrobials as alternatives to antibiotics. She is currently Project Manager for the James Lind Alliance Acne Priority Setting Partnership and is engaged in a number of other acne-related research projects.
