About Osteopathic Development Group
The Osteopathic Development Group (ODG) brings together the major osteopathic organisations in the UK, working in partnership on a number of projects to support the long-term development of osteopathy.
The ODG grew as an initiative following a series of debates held around the country in 2012 to consider the future development of the osteopathic profession.
Following these meetings, a stakeholder group comprising representatives of the Institute of Osteopathy (the professional body for osteopaths), Council for Osteopathic Educational Institutions (representing the colleges and universities that teach osteopathy), the General Osteopathic Council (the osteopathic regulator), the National Council for Osteopathic Research (representing the research community) and the Osteopathic Alliance (representing the post-registration training providers) came together to agree a shared development agenda.
From these initial discussions, a vision for the future and an outline action plan was formulated.
The Osteopathic Development Group identified initially eight projects to support the development of the profession.
