Dr Derrick Phillips

Senior Dermatology Registrar

Dr Derrick Phillips is a senior Dermatology Registrar in the Mersey Deanery and is due to become a consultant in August 2021. During his higher speciality training in Dermatology, he has developed an interest in inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, in addition to developing expertise in the management of skin cancer.

Dr Phillips studied medicine and undertook an intercalated BSc degree in Medical Physics and Bioengineering at UCL Medical School. He achieved a double merit award in the former and first-class honours in the latter.

His interest in Dermatology was first ignited whilst working as a junior doctor at the Royal Free Hospital in North London. During this period, he won the prestigious St John’s Institute of Dermatology registrar prize for an oral presentation.  Dr Phillips completed his general medical training in London and New South Wales, Australia, before embarking on Dermatology training in Liverpool.

Dr Phillips is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD), the North of England Dermatology Society (NEDS), British Society for Dermatological Surgery (BSDS), British Society for Medical Dermatology (BSMD) and the Royal College of Physicians (RCP). He has presented at national and international conferences and has published in peer-reviewed journals.
