Dr Faheem Latheef
Dr Faheem Latheef is a UK trained and accredited Consultant Dermatologist based in Leeds and who is on the General Medical Council's (GMC) Specialist Register acknowledging his expertise in conditions relating to the skin, hair and nails. He holds the post of Consultant Dermatologist and Allergy specialist at the Leeds Centre for Dermatology, at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, recognised as an international centre of excellence for Cutaneous Allergy as well as conditions such as skin cancer, Acne and Rosacea. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds and is actively involved in teaching and supervision of medical students and junior doctors in training. He is also the Lead Consultant for one of the Leeds Community Dermatology Services where he supervises General Practitioners with a specialist interest (GPWSI) in Dermatology as well as Dermatology Nurses. He is also available for private consultations at the Nuffield Health Hospital, Leeds.
Dr Latheef grew up in Sweden and India before moving to the UK to undertake his undergraduate medical training (MBCHB) at the University of Manchester after which he undertook his postgraduate training at the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust culminating in completion of his medical membership exam (MRCP). He then went on to gain a national training number to specialise in dermatology in the Leeds training programme where he developed his interest in Allergy and skin cancer. Whilst in Leeds, he completed his dermatology training (CCST) and also obtained his dermatology specialist examination certification (MRCP Dermatology). He is also one of the few doctors in the country to also hold a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree with his masters thesis focusing on competitive healthcare strategies in the NHS allowing him to get a better understanding of healthcare management and use of resources.
His main clinical interests are in the subjects of skin allergy, with the use of specialised tests such as cutaneous patch testing and skin prick testing, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers. In his NHS practice he also regularly sees patient with general dermatology and inflammatory skin conditions including Acne, Psoriasis, Eczema, Alopecia, nail disorders and other rashes.
