Kim Hardwick

Senior Cancer Information Nurse RGN, BAppSci-Nursing - Macmillan Cancer Support

Kim Hardwick is an oncology specialist nurse with over 20 years of experience in cancer nursing. She trained as a nurse in Australia and specialised in cancer nursing in 1992 after working at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Kim has worked as a sister managing number of busy oncology units and wards and has a speciality in the provision and care of people undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

Kim currently works as a Senior Nurse for the Macmillan Cancer Support national helpline. This is a free helpline where anyone affected by cancer in the UK can seek information and support from a range of experts - including cancer nurses. People can also access the support from benefits advisors, financial guides and a team of trained support officers.

Kim provides management and clinical leadership to the team of cancer nurses on the helpline. Working with her senior nurse colleagues - Kim is responsible for ensuring the day to operation of the service, as well as the safe and effective provision of high quality, up-to-date cancer information and support to anyone contacting the nurses on the helpline. Kim also leads on the provision of cancer information and support via Macmillan’s social media channels - including the online community and facebook page - where nurses do live web chats on various cancer topics.
