Re: BPH nocturnal diuresis
I would agree with Mr Harding that the use of a bladder diary is appropriate. Examples can be accessed online, searching for a bladder frequency volume chart. A production of urine at night over the age of 50 of more than 1/3 of the 24-hour production constitutes nocturnal diuresis. The actual thres...

Re: bladder weakness due to enlarged prostate
Bladder weakness can occur spontaneously in the population. It often is exacerbated by enlargement of the prostate and in many cases the exact cause is unknown. Specialist review of the situation is appropriate.

Re: Why do you start weeing again?
Each case has to be dealt with on its merits and specialist review by your general practitioner or continence nurse specialist with onward referral to a urologist would be appropriate.

Re: Catheter Encrustation
There is a tendency in some people to experience problems with encrustation of foreign bodies such as catheters, which is best managed by regular washouts of the catheter. If it is a continuing problem, please seek specialist help from your continence nurse practitioner. I agree with Mr Harding that...

I agree with Mr Harding, this is not a condition which can be managed in an online format as it is a complex problem which requires specialist evaluation and treatment.

Re: Urge incontinence getting worse
Urgency incontinence (urge incontinence is the term used in the United States) is the consequence of urgency, a compelling desire to pass urine which is difficult to defer. There are drug treatments which can be very effective for this, but some of them do have side effects. They can be accessed thr...

Re: Bulkamid
I agree with Mr Harding. Injectables are not as effective as some other forms of surgical intervention for stress incontinence. Bulkamid seems to be better tolerated by the tissues than previous therapies, but we do need to have further data in the future before suggesting it as a first-line therapy...

Yes, but this is a diagnosis that can only be made with appropriate investigation by a specialist with appropriate scans.

Re: Incontinence and hormones
Certainly, this is well recognised. If it is proving to be very troublesome then appropriate specialist assessment via the continence advisory service at community level or upward referral to a specialist hospital would be appropriate.

Ask for a referral to see a specialist at the hospital.
