Re: Fatigue/low energy
Yes, low testosterone could be linked to your problems, but hopefully, your GP would be addressing this issue if they thought it was clinically relevant. Low mood and a feeling of fatigue often go hand in hand. It could be that your medications are actually contributing to, rather than helping solve...

Re: Sleep problem
Many men think they wake up needing to go to the bathroom when in fact they are waking for another reason (e.g. pain, sleep apnoea, snoring, partner moving, etc.) and then deciding the need to pee. It may be worth investigating other possible causes for your waking.

Re: Wife going through menopause
I am a big advocate of sleeping separately if the situation requires it. In this case, sleeping separately may help you both as you will hopefully get better sleep and your wife will not feel guilty about disturbing your sleep. Sleeping separately is a pragmatic solution (probably 25-30% of middle-a...

Re: Sleep supplements
While there are many supplements available, few have any scientific evidence to support their use. An absolute prerequisite for getting to sleep is a quiet mind, so 1)try to put your cares and worries to bed long before you go to bed, have a relaxing wind-down for at least 30 minutes before getting ...

Re: Wake many times during the night
Hi Heidi thanks for your question. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia may be of some use in improving you sleep. This can be done digitally and is available by prescription in England. But this would need to be coupled with appropriate treatment of your pain, with medications that do not dis...

Re: Problems sleeping
Hi Dee, thanks for your question. The recommend first-line therapy for insomnia is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, this can either be done face to face or there are digital programmes that are available, some on the NHS in England, that should help you improve your sleep.

Re: mental health and lack of sleep
Thanks, Kelly for your question. Poor sleep in the short term can lead to feelings of tiredness and low mood/anxiety, but these should disappear once you start sleeping better again. Although sleep and mental health problems are closely linked it is not necessarily the case that one will lead to the...

Re: depression and insomnia
Thanks for your question You are right it is very much a chicken and egg situation. depression and poor sleep arise in the same area of the brain and do a problem with one may cause a problem with the other. Treating the depression may over time lead to improved sleep, but improving sleep may have a...

Re: SLEEP APNOEA
Thank you for your question. From the reports of your husband and daughter, it would seem be=very probable that you have sleep apnoea, and this should be assessed and if necessary, treated. Your fear of having your licence taken away has an element of truth in it, however, this is only in the case w...
