Re: Lower abdo pain

Yes - adhesions can be a cause of pain. A pelvic scan or a CT will hopefully help find out the cause.

Re: Post natal vulval and perineal states

This doesn’t sound cosmetic at all. It sounds appropriate to ask your GP to refer you to a pelvic floor clinic. Unfortunately some women do have to have surgery to ‘refashion’ their perineum after childbirth.

Re: Treating endometriosis

Unfortunately most treatment does involve surgery or hormones. At present the only other real option available are different types of pain relief - painkillers, pain modulators, use of a TENS machine. It is probably worth speaking to your GP or gynaecologist who may be able to refer you to a special...

Re: Vaginal prolapse

Vaginal prolapse is the general term used for any prolapse. Management actually depends on which part of the vaginal wall or uterus has prolapsed. Vaginal pessaries are just one type of management. It is probably best to see your GP who can refer you to a specialist gynaecologist who can examine you...

Re: Abdominal fistula following hysterectomy

I am so sorry to this. You are extremely unlucky to have suffered this. You are absolutely right, we should make sure all patients are given information on the potential risks of surgery and the risks of not doing surgery, so that they can make an informed decision. It sounds to me that you would be...

Re: Adhesions

Only usually by further surgery to divide them. However with further surgery comes the risk of further adhesions. Hence we usually only operate if women have lots of symptoms.

Re: hysterectomy, PCOS and menopause

In younger women undergoing a hysterectomy, the ovaries are not normally removed. Therefore they should continue to produce hormones as they do at the moment. Women however who have had a hysterectomy do tend to go through a slightly earlier menopause than women who still have a womb. Of course if t...

Re: Heavy Periods

Am sorry to hear this. For some women, who have tried most other things, you can have the lining of the womb burnt away (endometrial ablation). This is however not suitable for all women and will depend on the shape of your womb and whether you have any fibroids etc. It can be an alternative option ...

Re: Menstruation

As this bleeding is abnormal for you, it probably is worth going to see your GP to check it out. Hopefully nothing to worry about, but they should examine you and send you for a scan to check the lining of the womb if they are worried.

Re: Vagina a mass of scar tissue

Am really sorry to hear this. Unfortunately there is no easy solution to this that can be written on here. If you have not already been seen by a gynaecologist , your GP should refer you for review.
Wishing you well.
