Re: Unilateral

Hello,

I work as a dermatologist and skin pathologist so I can say this - don't put blind faith in the biopsy result!

I would be HIGHLY suspicious of this being tinea incognito. As Dr. Bordet says, skin scrapings to look for fungus may give you the final answer!

Best wishes,

Re: Chronic undiagnosed lesions

Hello there,

I'm sorry that you've not been given an adequate diagnosis to date. You did mention that the photos were too large to show - I'd love to have a look if at all possible.

Best wishes,

Sree

Re: Moles and skin cancer

Hello, Agreed - it's a bit of a disaster! While it's not ideal, it can be useful to take serial photographs to monitor your skin and if changes occur, it would be quite reasonable to see your GP. Alternatively, there are GPs who specialise in skin and can be very knowledgeable without the need to co...

Re: Guttate Psoriasis

Hello, I can vouch for Dr. Alexandroff's advice on Enstilar. It works much better than Dovobet despite having the same ingredients. You do need to be careful as to how much you use since it can become toxic if used to excess. Light treatment (phototherapy) can be very effective if your psoriasis is ...

Re: Emollient or topical steroid, which order for application

Hello,

Really good question. I would agree with Dr. Bordet's assessment that the two shouldn't be applied at the same time. However, I don't know if there is any difference in absorption/effectiveness between steroids first and emollient second (and vice-versa).

Best wishes,

Re: acne and flare ups

Hello, I think Dr. Bordet has given some excellent advice. The only addition that I would make is that it may be useful to first see your GP who can likely provide some introductory treatments. If it should fail to improve, they can refer you to a hospital specialist where we have some more powerful...

Re: Hidradenitis Suppurativa

Hi Kirsty, As you know, hidradenitis suppurativa is a debilitating chronic condition which can really affect your quality of life. There are, however, excellent treatments available to control the condition. You may find this information sheet helpful. https://www.bad.org.uk/shared/get-file.ashx?id=...

Hello there,

Would you be kind enough to share a photo so I can look at the nature of the scarring?

Thanks,

Re: Fexafenadine

Hi Sheila, As I'm sure you're aware, cholinergic urticaria can be completely debilitating. I vividly remember a teenager who wouldn't attend school as the weals would break out during a short walk to school. Fexofenadine is a clean drug and safe for long-term use. There are alternative treatments th...

Re: Persistent Eczema - solved?

Hi Kenny,

Hmm...sun is often worth a shot in many skin conditions.

In any case, I'm glad that you're doing well. Long may it continue!
