Re: Availability of Norfloxacin

Hi This must be a real concern for you. I must confess I am not aware of a supply issue and if you speak to the GP or pharmacist there may be another generic supplier of the drug which may have a different trade name but be the same active ingredient. Norfloxacin is one of a group of antibiotics and...

Re: enlarged prostate and BPH

Sometimes after an aneasthetic men find that they are unable to pee normally and go into retention. Re: History of prostate disease in my family

Morning If you have a strong family history of prostate cancer that is male relatives, Father, Uncle, Brother then your risk of getting prostate cancer is higher. In these circumstances I would recommend that you get your PSA checked around the age of 40-45. If it is abnormal then you should be refe...

Re: What age?

This remains a difficult question and one which doctors don't all agree. There is evidence for and against screening for prostate cancer and both Dr Rees and Mr Eden have a good argument and give good advice. However your husband is left with a choice. PSA is not a diagnostic test but it is a useful...

Dear Rachel It can be realy difficult to see those we love unwell and suffereing in any way. The nurses and doctors caring for your farther will be Cardiology experts rather than Urology experts. Re: Continued use of Finasteride

I would agree with Dr Rees. It is good to hear that you have had successful surgery. The surgery has cleared the prostate tissue pressing on the waterpipe which was causing the blockage and the bothersome urinary symptoms. So it would seem entirely reasonable and safe to stop the medication. As Dr R...
