Re: passing stools
Thanks for the enquiry. I do feel that this is most likely due to an anal fissure. The alternative is a haemorrhoid problem. It would be important to know if you are constipated. I would encourage you to see your GP - although you may feel embarrassed, this is something your GP will be comfortable w...

Re: Bowel and bladder problems
Thanks for the enquiry.
I have to say that my strong impression is that the priority is a gynaecological/bladder opinion. Your varying bowel function could relate to the medications you are requiring, especially any pain killers or antibiotics.

Re: chronic diarrhoea every time I eat a meal
Thanks - you have been through the mill. I think since the bile acid malabsorption has been demonstrated it is the one thing worth pursuing - there are newer, better tolerated and more effective, sequestrants. If there is no colonic cause of loose stools, then it may be a control issue still, worth ...

Re: chronic diarrhoea every time I eat a meal
Thanks - very helpful to have the extra information. One thing is to be sure that the anorectal control mechanism is not at least part of the problem (especially as you have had a child, and labour is a common cause of this problem). If lomotil has been helpful, this suggests a degree of abnormal mo...

Re: Questran and FODMAPs
Thanks - you are correct about the risk of constipation with Co-codamol, Questran and to a lesser extent the low FODMAPs diet. If the Co-codamol cannot be cut out, then it is a question of starting with a low dose (say half sachet of Questran) and gradually increasing the dose according to response ...

Re: Bowel Problem
Thanks for your enquiry, and the detailed yet succinct description of your symptoms. The likeliest diagnosis is of something like IBS, but there are other possibilities if the symptoms are of recent onset or if there is any other "at-risk" symptom (weight loss, bleeding, family history). I...

Re: Problems when passing stool
Sorry to hear this. One possibility from what you are describing is that you may be suffering with an anal fissure. This would be quick to diagnose by inspecting the area. In the short term there is a specific prescribed outcome to help healing, and thereafter it is about keeping the stools soft, fr...

Re: cant really put a topic on it
Thanks for sharing this, but I am concerned to hear how long (and how much) you have been suffering. You really ought to get to GP if possible - that is the first step to getting this sorted out. It should be sortable, and it is not safe or dignified for you to carry on like this. It could be that y...

Re: Not sure whether this comes under bowel problem?
Thanks for the enquiry. It would help to know where a bouts these sensations are present. If it is around your back passage, then it could be something like an anal fissure or haemorrhoids (the ointments are not guaranteed to remove symptoms). If the pain is in your abdomen, that would be different....

Re: what is wrong with my stomach
Thanks for your enquiry. It sounds as if this is an exacerbation of a problem that has been in the background for a little while. The loud noises and loose motions are probably related - suggestive of the fact that your gut is contracting in an un-coordinated or excessive fashion. This may be meal r...
