Re: Tollerance for misleading 'positive' claims about treatm
Some of the above images seem to have been formatted in a way which cuts of their edges. One can right click, and choose to 'view image' to see them properly. Sorry.

Tollerance for misleading 'positive' claims about treatments
There seems to be a culture within mental health care of tolerating false, misleading and dishonest claims about treatment efficacy, often justified with vague references to 'hope', encouragement, etc. When those involved in alternative medicine (homeopathy, etc) behave in this way, they are rightly...

Re: To the moderators of this forum. Misleading information.
Also, with regards to the most seriously ill patients, we should mention the FINE trial. Much attention has been devoted to PACE, but the FAQ on the PACE website reports: Is PACE the only major trial for CFS/ME being carried out in the UK? The MRC announced funding in May 2003 for two trials looking...

Re: To the moderators of this forum. Misleading information.
Rather than correcting or deleting the claims of others, I think that it would be better for moderators to leave threads open, so that others could explain why some of the claims being made are misleading. What is really dangerous, is for the moderators to close topics once misleading information ha...

Will Bavinton respond to the specific points about spin?
It seems that we have fallen into a strange situation where, when Bevinton mentions or quotes from research this is seen as acceptable. When patients point out how misleading some of Bevinton's claims are, this is treated as a 'research discussion' which should be deleted or locked. There is a serio...

Re: Harmful Exercise 2 - Attention Dr Miller
Unfortunately the PACE trial principal investigators avoided answering most of the specific points that had been raised in the now locked thread. It would be interesting to know what Dr Miller thought could be done to ensure that patients had access to more useful data from the PACE trial than that ...

Re: Outcome Measures for GET
Whose question did they answer? We can now see that the PACE researchers have not challenged the facts being reported by critics about the way in which the results from PACE were misleadingly presented, but are just not concerned by them. It seems as if they've completely avoided the specific points...

For Jessica Bavinton
I had thanked TalkHealth for providing a place where patients could discuss the available evidence for treatments they may wish to pursue with those who are providing them. However, as my post was deleted, and the thread locked, I would instead be interested in having them explain why they seek to p...

Re: ME/CFS Charities
Considering the amount of controversy and uncertainty, it is not that surprising that there are lot of groups with differing priorities. I think that The ME Association is by far the bast of the two main charities (although I do not always agree with what they do). It gives members a vote at Annual ...
